Hot Applied Road Markings

The largest volume of road markings carried out in the UK are with hot applied products. For hard-wearing material to flow enough to be applied thinly onto a pavement surface, it needs to be heated to a high temperature. Once this is set, it is of high durability and contains all the constituents required for a good road marking, including, pigment, reflective glass beads etc.

Benefits of Hot Applied Road Markings include:

Materials being able to be applied to the pavement in thin layers which provides a good whole life value to the marking

  • Versatility in the equipment used, allowing very small intricate areas to be installed or very large sections of carriageway edging or rib-lines
  • Being able to profile a line or be able to add a 3-dimensional shape to it which gives greater opportunity to produce different effects
