Flexiplast is a technically advanced and more cost-effective solution for cracked concrete roads.
Using a highly modified bitumen binder, it does away with the laborious and time-consuming methods traditionally used to repair damaged concrete bases.
The most common is ‘crack and seat’, which involves exposing and cracking the concrete bays and using heavy rollers to ‘seat’ these smaller slabs into the sub-base, before overlaying a blanket of asphalt.
Flexiplast instead leaves the concrete whole and uses high-performance materials to resist reflective cracking in the new asphalt surface.
Our two-part system is applied after the asphalt layers are stripped and visible joints and cracks are filled.
First, the spray-applied bitumen binder, which contains an elastomeric polymer, provides a flexible membrane over the concrete. This crack inhibitor also seals the concrete base against water ingress and further damage.
Second, Gripfibre micro-surfacing forms a thick layer with the membrane to accommodate thermal movement within the concrete, protecting against deterioration of the road surface.
