Ringway Infrastructure Services are looking for a Highways Triage Inspector to join their busy team based in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire


Key Tasks/Accountabilities

  • Inspection of Category 1 defects raised by members of the public
  • Defining interventions in line with the Assess & Decide policy.
  • Build accurate jobs for the Operations Team to construct and provide responses to members of the public
  • Travel within Hertfordshire will be required 

Skills/Experience required


Experience & proficiency in identification & risk assessment of defects to be categorised (Cat 1 & 2) for appropriate interventions

  • Understanding of construction methods, Health & Safety and TMA compliance
  • Understanding of operational delivery within TMC/Civil Engineering sector with awareness in safety, quality & environmental issues
  • Understanding of operational H&S responsibilities both for themselves and others
  • A comprehensive understanding of HCC Assess & Decide Policy, desirable, however training given
  • Able to raise Category 1 & 2 Work Orders on CONFIRM desirable, however training given
  • Conversant with HCC’s Inspection Manual and knowledge of inspection aspects of the Well Maintained Highways Code of Practice for Highways Maintenance Management is desirable, however training will be given.
  • Highways maintenance related qualification an advantage
  • Word, Excel, Outlook; Papyrus; application based systems; use of PDAs, Confirm
  • Good knowledge of Hertfordshire and an understanding of Highways Maintenance
  • Flexible, able to work as part of a team, good attention to detail, work well under pressure, adaptable to change
  • Must hold a full driving licence; LGV advantage
  • Must be willing to participate in out of hours call out rota
