MARCH OF WINTER: A fleet of Ringway gritter trucks has arrived on the Isle of Wight in readiness for the winter season.
Ringway Infrastructure Services took over responsibility for winter maintenance on the island on 1 November. Worth around £350,000 per annum, the Isle of Wight Council contract runs until 2013 or the start of its planned PFI scheme for integrated management and maintenance of highways, rights of way and street lighting.
The gritter fleet is 12-strong and will be upgraded with six new vehicles next year.
