Ringway and Ringway Jacobs Enhance Cycle Links across the City

Ringway Jacobs and their client Transport for London have project managed a brand new scheme, being rolled out across London.

Cycle Superhighways are safe, fast, direct routes into central London from outer London. The first two routes open in Summer 2010, with ten more being introduced by 2015.  Ringway have been working in partnership with Ringway Jacobs to deliver and build several of these routes.

These routes are going to be the first designated cycle routes across the city that will be clearly marked and easy to follow.  There will be new signage, road markings with information about journey time and they will be linking into other cycle routes.

Transport for London has commissioned the build of these routes to improve cycling conditions for people who already commute by bike and to encourage those who don't to take to pedal power. This will help cut congestion, relieve overcrowding on public transport and reduce emissions.   The Cycle Superhighways project is one of TfL and the Mayor's main ways of bringing about a London cycling revolution, aimed at increasing cycling in London by 400 per cent by 2025 (compared to 2000 levels).

This project is an excellent example of how Ringway Jacobs can deliver a high quality scheme, efficiently delivered, by working closely with Ringway, calling on their expertise to build while Ringway Jacobs play at their strengths of designing and project managing the build.  More schemes like this, and in other areas of work, are carried out daily and planned into the future, with various clients.  Working in this way really benefits the client so they receive a high quality scheme at a lower cost as the two companies work together.
