Chris Evans' popular radio show on BBC radio 2 was the platform for a live interview with two gritter drivers from Ringway.
The story was in keeping with the winter season and focused upon the role a gritter driver plays in keeping our roads safe during current weather conditions.
Local driver Scott Thorpe, from Ringway at Kent was the first to be interviewed, explaining to Chris Evans how the weather can severely affect his job. Evans asked Scott how long Scott had been working for Ringway and what specific processes were involved when it comes to salting the roads. Over six million people tuned in to hear Scott’s answers, highlighting the importance of our road’s conditions for many local residents.
After being inundated with email, text questions and the high level of interest, Evans was keen to add a new dynamic to the feature so asked for female drivers to contact the studio. Claire Lucas, a Ringway driver in Surrey, was happy to be interviewed during the drive time show live on Tuesday 9th December , sharing the different issues faced by a female driver
