Ringway unveil revolutionary cost reducing technology

As part of our commitment to providing a “greener fleet” with the aim of reducing our operating costs and Co2 emissions through technological innovation, Ringway have launched their revolutionary Hydrogen Fuel Injector, fitted to one of our community maintenance trucks.

Currently being trialled on one of our existing DAF LF45 7.5 tonne GVW  trucks this innovation has the potential to reduce fuel costs across the entire group's fleet by up to 20% as well as a significant reduction on carbon emissions.

Working in partnership with designer Simon Haswell, the Hydrogen Fuel Injector (HFI) uses the excess power of the truck's alternator to electrolyse distilled water and inject the resulting hydrogen and oxygen into the diesel engine's fuel injection system, prior to turbo charging. The gasses give a significant boost to the fuel burn within the cylinders, considerably reducing fuel consumption.

Simon Haswell, Director of Haswell LTD said " if the 20% savings in fuel projected are achieved Ringway would reduce the annual running costs to their business by circa £30,000 a week and lower Co2 outputs by 16.7% based on a 20% fuel gain

" This innovation truly has the potential to save Ringway, the wider Eurovia Group and our Clients fuel efficiency savings, whilst reducing the impact upon our environment. Current trial results are looking very promising" said Group Plant and Fleet Manager, Richard Carson

Developed by locally based company Haswell Ltd, this revolutionary Hydrogen Fuel Injector (HFI) uses the excess power of the alternator to electrolyse distilled water and inject the resulting hydrogen and oxygen into a diesel engine's fuel system prior to turbo-charging. The gasses give a significant boost to the fuel burn within the cylinders, considerably reducing fuel consumption.  Current users of the system are achieving verifiable gains of 20% .

Other benefits include reduced NOx and un burnt fuel particulate exhaust output, and the HFI makes for cleaner and more efficient running, further reducing maintenance costs.
