Chris Connor has joined Ringway, taking up the role of Term Services Managing Director. Chris has a high profile in the highway service industry and has worked in senior roles in both the public and private sectors. His experience covers consulting, term contracting, integrated highway services and highway service direction as a strategic Client.
Group Managing Director, Scott Wardrop announced the appointment, saying: “We are delighted to see Chris joining Ringway and bringing such a wealth of industry experience to the Group. Chris’s role will be to develop our businesses further in these difficult economic conditions, and allow us to capitalise on the opportunities that exist for outsourced infrastructure services in the coming years.”
Chris adds: “It is an exciting time to be joining such a well regarded organisation as Ringway and am looking forward to the challenge. We have a strong offering, with a number of key opportunities on the horizon, and as part of the wider Eurovia Group, we have substantial financial support behind us. I am very much looking forward to managing and developing both our existing and new businesses efficiently by: working to further develop our customer focus and relationships; developing staff skills and competencies; enhancing service and contract performance; and focusing on resource management. We are certainly going to be busy!”
Immediately prior to joining Ringway Chris had been providing services direct to clients related to procurement procedures, contract development, tender evaluation processes, and contract performance. Until 2008, as Director Road Network Management for Transport for London (TfL), he was responsible for the implementation of the majority of TfL’s highway investment and maintenance programmes and carried responsibility for an annual budget of well over £200m. This included routine maintenance, capital maintenance, capital improvement and the delivery of a very significant major projects portfolio.
Earlier in his career he fulfilled a number of senior management roles at Mouchel ending his career with them as their Highways Sector Director. During this time he was involved in the establishment of a number of highly successful integrated highways businesses. Prior to that Chris spent over 15 years working in public sector highway management and maintenance.
