Ringway trial new FloodSax® in time for the rainy season
With an eye to extreme weather events around the country in the last two years. Ringway has identified a new product to help against any future floods in Kent. Ringway have recently undertaken trials involving polymer-based FloodSax® that have been manufactured in the same shape and style as a traditional sandbag to protect against flooding.

Prior to activation they weigh a fraction of the weight of traditional sandbags and only take up 1/10th of the space. This allows for distribution by lighter vehicles so reducing fuel usage and makes storage considerably easier. Whilst not a responsibility of the council to protect property, every effort is made to find resources that will help local residents protect their homes and business units in adverse conditions.
The trials have been a success and overall showed FloodSax® performed very well and resisted water at a high rate of flow and pressure. FloodSax® are suitable for flooding events such as flash floods, rising ground water, river flooding and domestic flooding due to water pipe failures. Ringway continues to plan ahead and develop new technology to benefit the people of Kent.
