At Ringway, social value isn’t just for the festive season- it’s a commitment we uphold all year. But at Christmas, when communities and charities need extra support, we’re proud to make a difference together.

December has been a month of giving across Ringway, with business units nationwide coming together to spread festive cheer and deliver meaningful social value. From foodbank donations and reverse advent calendars to personalised Christmas cards for residents and creative fundraising events, our teams have gone above and beyond to support local communities and charities during the holiday season. These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to making a positive difference, not just at Christmas but every day, through acts of kindness, collaboration, and care for the people and places we serve.
On the Thursday 11th of December, a number of staff from Ringway SW M&R (Karin Harwood, Mark Dawes, Alan Wood, Adrian Cox), as well as Karin daughters, Daisy and Tash all organised and set up a Santa’s grotto, complete with a snow maker, at the Children’s Hospice South West’s Charlton Farm for children with life threatening and life limiting conditions.
On 17 December, the Bracknell Forest team delivered food products to The Trussell Trust Foodbank Bracknell, collected through the 12 Days Reverse Advent Calendar initiative. Business Manager Megan Brooke shared:
“Meeting the incredible volunteers reminded me that while Christmas is a time of giving, the need for support is ever-present. The Trussell Trust provides not only emergency food parcels but also practical help and advice to individuals and families.”
This effort highlights the importance of ongoing community support and the positive difference we can make together.
Following previous Stand Out Make A Difference (SOMAD) days, the team continued its partnership with Lucy Brown House in London Bridge. After discussions with local partners, residents who might not receive many cards were identified. Ringway colleagues wrote personalised messages to bring joy during a season that can feel lonely for some.
On 19 December, the National Highways East team hosted a virtual festive fundraiser featuring:
Thanks to generous contributions, funds were raised for East Anglia Air Ambulance, alongside a winter clothing collection for Light Project Peterborough and Families in Need (FIND) Ipswich.
On 21 December, the Gloucestershire team donated items from its reverse advent calendar to Gloucester Foodbank and Teckels Rescue Animal Sanctuary, while also raising money for the James Hopkins Trust.
On 22 December, the Milton Keynes team joined forces with MKCC Client for Save the Children UK’s Christmas Jumper Day, embracing the festive spirit with creativity and fun. The team also supported Harry’s Rainbow, helping bereaved children and families in the local area.
