Ultraphone is a quiet surfacing that delivers significant benefits to road users as well as residents.
Developed at our Technical Centres in Warrington and Bordeaux, this 6mm thin surfacing has been proven in the UK and on the continent.
People living near busy roads welcome the relief from noise that Ultraphone brings. On its first UK contract, when it replaced a conventional asphalt surface on a busy 40mph road, Ultraphone delivered a 5db(A) reduction – equivalent to a 75% cut in traffic flows. In a council survey, 93% of locals noticed the big change.
Ultraphone also improves skid resistance, and when used with steel slag aggregate, spray is much reduced in heavy rain by its semi-porous structure.
