Winter Maintenance

From October to April, Ringway is on alert to provide a Winter Service for local government authorities across the UK, representing over 17,656 kilometres of roads.

Ringway has over 300 Gritters and Snow Ploughs of varying types to suit individual client requirements and circumstances operated by experienced and trained operatives available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week who are waiting for the forecast of low temperatures, ice or snow.

We work closely with our Clients, the Highways Agency, Met Office and the Police to keep the road network open during bad weather.

In order to deliver our service, we invest significant resources into ensuring that our winter fleet and equipment meet winter conditions and that our operatives are the best. Our drivers hold HGV licenses and City & Guilds certificates in Winter Maintenance Operations.

Ringway’s delivery of Winter Service brings the following benefits:

  • A fully-equipped winter fleet with Masternaut GPS to provide live vehicle tracking and contract specific reporting data from across the salting network
  • Innovative materials, including Pre-wetted salt and Safecote
  • Using enhanced regional forecasting models to provide a more targeted response
  • Optimising Winter Service routes
  • Working with key local stakeholders, such as the emergency services and local farmers to support the service in extreme weather conditions
  • Our experienced team can provide the winter decision-making service, representing a seamless service and increased efficiency.
