Mitesh Solanki, managing director of Ringway has been announced as President of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT). This remarkable achievement highlights Mitesh's unwavering dedication and exceptional contributions to the field of highways, transport, and infrastructure.

The Presidential Inauguration was held at CIHT’s office in London on Wednesday 18th June. This was a moment of great pride and joy for all who attended. In his speech, Mitesh thanked his 10 special guests who helped shape his professional journey.

The next 12 months will see Mitesh fulfilling in his presidency a programme of activity focused on three key areas: resilience, professionalism, and equity. Mitesh aims to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Glenn Lyons by prioritising climate resilience and adaptation, ensuring that networks and individuals are equipped to handle our changing world.

“Climate change is presenting society and our sector with challenges that we must do more on. The question we as professionals must ask ourselves is how we are adapting to the changing world. We need to take the opportunity to think about new ways of increasing our climate resilience and long-term solutions for the highways, transport and infrastructure sector.” Says Mitesh Solanki.

Recognising the contributions to his professional growth, Mitesh aspires to enhance opportunities for professional development particularly through initiatives like CIHT Learn, alongside additional new initiatives. Regarding equity and diversity, Mitesh plans to address workforce sustainability by attracting new talent and early career professionals to the sector, addressing the future retirement wave.

“How do we attract people to this sector? If I look purely at Ringway, in the next 10 to 15 years, at least 50 to 60% of my team will be eligible to retire.”

Mitesh’s approach is holistic, aiming not just to increase numbers but also to foster a culture that values diversity in thought.

We at Ringway extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mitesh for this well-deserved recognition. His presidency marks a new era of growth and we are confident that under his leadership, CIHT will continue to make significant strides in addressing the critical issues facing our industry.

His achievements are a testament to the excellence Ringway aspires to, and we look forward to supporting his vision and initiatives.
